Quick update time.
Inbetween searching for work I've spannered a little on the car. Double edged sword - bit of time for the car but I HATE being out of work.
Anyway, yesterday was quite productive in that the Mocal is now on the car and fully functioning. Stripped the front end down and mounted it down in the bumper recess. It seems to be doing a good job so far and the thermostatic plate and original VAG cooler ensures the car still warms up properly. Oil didn't go over 104 according to the MFA on the roadtest with some enthusiastic driving on private lanes. Sat at between 92-94 most of the time. A temp decrease of roughly 10-15 degrees. Tidy

Only problem I have found is getting a good seal on some of the unions. PTFE tape has helped a lot however I have a slight weep from one of the connectors (typically the hardest to access with the bumper on etc ). Will also modify the rad cowling for the other side when I get hold of a dremel so that can be installed - just needs a hole cut into it for the oil pipes to go through.

Oil feed pipes tied together and protected from the sharp edges of the slam panel. Will be putting the plastic rad cowling back on when I've chopped it up suitably to fit the pipes through.

You can barely see it when the bumper is on which is exactly what I was after

Also installed the mk3 weighted shifter that's been in the toolbox for yonks. 2 minute job and what a difference! If you have a mk2 and haven't done this, do it now. You won't be disappointed.
