Cool, best place for it but 1) its gonna be a biatch to change the bulbs when the time comes, 2) if the cooler is on a thermostat then it will rarely get hot but if it does i would be concerned about the rubber cover for the light getting hot and the wires touching it???  is there no way you can space it back a bit?.. mines about an inch furthur back.

Well yeah, as I said mate I am a bit concerned about the cover. My mate was on about putting some heatproof tape stuff on the bung earlier. No way of moving it back really as it needs to line up under the slam panel and stay in line with the cross member underneath. Bulbs should be ok, just pull the grille

hmmm, was just wondering if you could find/make slightly different brackets to space it back a bit??? all you'd need is a couple of extra bits of metal with holes in and a couple more nuts and bolts.

something that looks like this, bolted to the car first where you would have bolted the cooler but then bolt the coolers brackets to this which would step it back...  i cant really explain what i mean.. would have to draw it!...

Ignor the measurements on the image...

Good plan, I've had another go today and managed to move it back just under an inch in a similar way to what you have said SIllusion. Should be alright with the heatwrap material on the wires too. Just hope it gets enough airflow. Wanted to plumb it all in today but realised my mate has nicked my drill so will have to do it over the weekend. In the middle of helping with an engine swap on his 205 so Golf has taken a back seat slightly.

Cool.... yeah i wouldnt worry about heat unless there's contact and since you have addresses that by nearly an inch that should be fine.....  I dont think air flow will be a problem, you'll be surprised how much air will be banging around the grille even with a spot light in the way..... mount some PC fans to it if your're that worried.   Mines been on a back burner again but because of work! have a full week off  next week though!... booked a week off work so watch this space!

Your motor is looking great Sound Illusion, coming on nicely.

I've seriously lost the love for my car at the moment. It's still not running quite right but am having the CO setup next week. The rear suspension feels all over the place and having spent £50 on new top mounts from VW, and stripping one side of the car down, it looks as though the current ones are in good nick. Will teach me to jump the gun I guess. The 'vagueness' is now pointing to the beam bushes needing replacement which is a complete ball ache of a job on an uneven driveway :undecided:

In addition, thanks to the local council's incompetance, I had a crack in my windscreen from a stone and another smashed my headlight. Swapped the headlight for a new unit and had the crack fixed for 30 notes. Low and behold, less than a week later, on the same road, this happens:

Bit of rot around the windscreen so should probably get that sorted the same time as the screen. One problem though, skint  Might have to come off of the road for a while as I am also now having to pay £50 a month storage.

Balls.

I'm not even sure what glass it is, just stamped 'tinted'. I notice BBT stock screens but only clear and green.

Well, the bushes look rather crusty to be honest. The car just feels like it's wallowing in corners and I'm pretty sure the shocks are all ok.
