I agree the non-xenon DRLs look too yellow. Problem is, they use weird new H15 bulbs and nobody has made a bright white version yet :(

Guys, it's an easy solution, change the sidelights to Philips Blue Vision and then drive around with the sidelights on instead. problem fixed.

I don't think I've seen either the xenon or non-xenon DRL's yet.

However, I do see a lot of Mk6 Golf's driving around with their front light on, is that what we're talking about here?  When I say front lights, it's the two inner lights closest to the grille.  They do look quite yellow, so I guess these must be the DRL's?

If I understand correctly, does this mean that the xenon headlamps use the outboard gas-discharge projector for the daytime running lamp? Which would mean the xenons are lit all the time - could someone with xenons please confirm?

found a pic of xenons with what looks like DRLs on the sirly bit on the bottom.  kinda hard to make out anything since lights in the daytime don't come out too well, but seems ok...

Mk6 Golf GTI 5dr, DBP, Monza Shadow, Xenons, ACC, RCD510, Park Assist, Camera, Lux pack.... and now bluetooth.... and now DSG!

here's a pic with the main xenon's on as well.  imo the DRLs aren't completely white and look a tiny bit yellow.

Not sure if everyone is aware of this but the DRLs can be activated/deactivated by using the headlamp lever.

Ignition off. Lights to 'O'. Left turn on indicator (down) while pulling back (flashing mainbeam), switch on ignition, hold for 4 seconds or so and you should here a beep. The DRLs are now off.

To reactivate is similar but you use Right turn on indicator (up) instead.

Not sure aboure xenons.

Mine are now off as they remind me too much of the old Jasper Carrott jokes about volvos and I know a few motorbike riders and cyclists who are really worried about the fact that all new cars may have DRLs by 20011/12.
There are various petitions against the introduction of DRLs in Europe.
Mk7 GTI. DBP, DCC, Winter pack. Mine since new, July 2013.
GTI no. 4. Golf no. 5.  VW no. 7.

yes the xenons are lit all the time but its not the main part of the light - the drl's are different to the full xenon lights.  sorry for not being techy!  i've only looked once though so may be wrong but that's what it looked like to me

So if you dont have xenons the only real solution is to either turn them off or to change the side light bulbs and drive with your side lights on??

If so I like the sound of the later... anyone know where I could get some of these bulbs and whats required to change them?

thx
