It also makes a nice noise when accelerating. I was a bit worried after hearing the 'it's too quiet' comments..but mine sounds nicer and has a deeper growl than my mk 5....strange...but hey I' m happy

....Only if you drive through a tunnel or with the windows down! It's so quiet inside the car on tickover that you don't know if you've turned on the ignition

But the most important is as you say, that you are the one who is happy :afro:  :afro:

But Remember robin, your car isnt standard and the Mk5 standard car is simular to its new model. Some people prefer a quieter ride, and would prefer the mk6 especially when it comes to wind and road noise, which is also greatly approved in the new model.

....Perhaps I've forgotten how quiet the stock Mk5 exhaust is! Afterall, I've had my Milltek Non-Res since 2005 (albeit in a variety of formats).

R32UK - There'll doubtless be some difference between quad and twin pipe sounds but it's very subtle.

Either way, I personally want to hear my engine/exhaust all the time, motorways included, so I'm critical of the Mk6. From what you guys are saying, the Mk6 will sound very good on a TBE aftermarket system and better than a Mk5.

Stock exhaust isn't quiet in my experience.  Mine has got louder over the years and most don't believe its how it came out the factory. Perfect for me, nice roar when accelerating, and quiet when cruising

+1 Mine sounds spot on and it's the original exhaust. Infact i'd be worried about upgrading to milltek or similar just because i'm so happy with how it currently sounds really wouldn't want it any louder/quieter

....But if you are going to start "tinkering" and get a remap, you'll need an aftermarket performance exhaust such as a Milltek. But, the Resonated version isn't what I call loud anyway.

....I expect that their (Milltek manufactured) Hi-flow+Downpipe (TBE) version would be louder though. Wouldn't you exploit your remap better with a TBE?

Sambo, you need to come listen to a MK5 with a Milltek, you will soon change your mind, I use to be of the same opinion as you then saw the light
