Ok thanks you lot. I'd really like a VR6 but thinking about it, it will cost more in fuel & insurance then
the 16v so i might as well get that.

Btw, i would of though the 1.8T would of been much much fast with that turbo, but i guess it's only 150bhp too.

Thanks for all the info.

A well driven VR6 will not be a lot worse on juice, 16v have to driven hard to get the best out of them, plus the VR has a shed load more torque and will sit in higher gears.

Ok im going to make abit of a contraversial post now,i have a mk3 and i also have a mk2 and you sound like a man who gets a buzz out of driving, there for go buy a mk2 16v theres tons more smiles per mile to be had in one of those if your worried about going from your mr2. mk3's are great little cars, well made all the creature comforts youll need and as i said i have one and i love my mk3 i really do but there lies the problem, the mk3 gti became abit too sensible and abit too comfortable and in my eyes was the begining of vw losing there grip abit over the hot hatch domination they had with the mk1 and mk2,i mean lets look at the golf now its a bloody lovely car but its also very big and very heavy and is it really still as fun as the cars they made in the late 80's and early 90's when being sensible and enviromentally friendly and economical and blah blah blah,i think you get my point,so if you want ya heart to race and if you want to smile and feel xcited i really think you should be looking at mk2 16v's.

This is the thing tho, for me the 8v/16v are exactly the same to insure but would the extra power be worth an extra £200 a year?

I thought about the MK2s but i didn't really see many for sale, either there's not many around or my price was too low. Lovely looking things tho. :)

Mk2 is a better drivers car.

Mk3 is a cruiser, and tarts car.

But you need deeper pockets to run a mk2 daily.

This is true hence why i have both

Also the reason the mk4 isnt any faster even tho its got a turbo is because it weighs about the same as a small moon. put that engine in a mk1 mk2 or even a mk3 and its a very different story.
