VR6
« on: 27 July 2009, 20:46 »
Right then,

I'm after a new car will have about £1500 to spend so i've been looking at MK3's, was after a 16v but i
see my MR2 is quicker in every way & even that didn't feel fast (i'm not a speed freak lol) just want something
i can have a little fun in from time to time. So i started looking at the VR6's, how much quicker are these then
the 16v? How do they compare to hot hatches of today?

Is it worth it as i will be paying more on insurance? Or shall i just go for a 16v? Failing that, is the 8v much worse?

Thank you.

Just buy a mk4 TDI.

I hate these threads.

16v is the best, vr6 drinks to much, and the 8v is so slow.

i pay about £300 a yr on a 16v it is quick but if i could afford to run a vr6 i would have one , i would say a decent vr6 would give most moden car's a good run for there money!

i disagree.

Baring in mind i want to spend a lot of cash putting a VR in my mk3 this month.

I am prepared to say it wouldnt give a lot of modern stuff a run for its money in honesty.

Will probably go with the 16v then, insurance is much much cheaper too.
Is the VR6 really that costly to run then?

Why do you say an MK4, i recently sold mine which i regret but i doubt i'd find a TDI for my budget??

Cheers.

ok vr6 is you want a cruiser, 16v if you want something sporty, 8v forget it!! and its impossible to compare to newer stuff as most have silly bhp and turbo's!! but the 16v will give a 150bhp 1.8t a good run

You will have to take my posts in this thread with a hint of sarcasm.

This forums believes the sun shines out of the rear end of the 16v, compared to any other engine.

;)

And i predicted right so far.

Ok thanks you lot. I'd really like a VR6 but thinking about it, it will cost more in fuel & insurance then
the 16v so i might as well get that.

Btw, i would of though the 1.8T would of been much much fast with that turbo, but i guess it's only 150bhp too.

Thanks for all the info.
