Hi, correct me if I wrong but I thought we were not supposed to polish a new car until 12 weeks have passed or something? This is to ensure no damage is done to the lacquer(sp?)?

Agreed. Your car is beautiful, but I'm really surprised you polished it already. Wax yes, polish no! Polish works by removing the top coat and should only be used when the paint starts to dull, i.e. after a couple of winters. Also, you will inevitably create swirl marks, which is the bugbear of black cars, as they are more visible than on other colours.
It was auto glym deep shine for dark cars, says"for new or moderate paintwork" on the label,so i`ll sue auto glym if any problems, looks better and repels rain far better than when i picked it up,i did`nt rub like a loony i just applied it by hand and buffed it off. :undecided:Going to read the handbook now to see what they say.

The Handbook just says to wax the car,and if you use a polish make sure you wax it after no mention of the 12 week mark,Auto glym deepshine is both, but more of a wax than polish(ALSO SAYS IT PREVENTS SWIRLS),auto glym red is what you use if  the paintwork has gone dull, that has more cut but also contains wax.I`ve Used auto glym on my touran and  the 13 year old astra that i scrapped, the astra`s paintwork was often commented on by passers by who whould say how amazing it looked for a 13 year old car,it truly looked like it had been resprayed. To be honest i`d not really thought about wax and polish being different, but i see your point now. When i get chance i`m going to seal the paintwork with auto glym gold which is purely a sealant/wax.

I wouldn't worry about it, one polish isn't going to ruin your paintwork. It's just that it's not something I would do on my own car, especially if it were black :)

Never thought of polish and wax as different products to be honest but i see your point, just watched auto glym video on there site, says you can use deep shine on new paint work and  it prevents all those little niggles with black paint,But i`m just going to seal it from now on because you`ve put doubt in my mind, will i come out one morning and all the paint has dropped off ?
