sounds like the 16v maybe has the common 'idle stabilisation valve' problem?

or similar, its deffo down to fueling. I admit Mr 6' was helpful on with alot of diagonsis problems, but as said earlier there are others that have dared to venture under a bonnet of a vw!!!! Gambit, i find is helpfull with mk2 16v probs, give him a shout.
oh yeah as regards to under bonnet work, ermm therell be some stage by stage pics of my 16v stem seal repair soon, and also my mk4 20v head is coming off again!!!!! (still running at mo but orig head going back on!!)
