60mm springs ok???

My '95 Gti 5 door is on std springs and looks a bit high so I was thinking of lowering it but 35/40mm I dont think will make it look much lower.

Ive seen a set of 60mm springs but am wondering if it will be ok with my 17"s?  they are 205/40/17's

hmmmm you will be pushing it !

i just dropped my GTi and its on standard wheels and i gotta say it pretty tight...so not too sure if that will be a good idea...see what the other guys here say i could be wrong..

To be honest lowering your car 60mm on just springs isnt really that clever as the ride will be horrible and bumpy as hell,if ya gonna go that low then a full
suspension kit with proper dampers,springs and bumpstops is the way to go,try venom motorsport they have several full kits at very reasonable prices  :smiley:

Yeah thats where i got my set of SAPX from (Springs and Dampers)
Mine aint height adjustable, just adjustable dampers.

If your guna go with 17s i'd suggest height adjustable too so you know that you can go as low as possible without damaging things!

If you look back on some of the posts Reasy has commented on he knows what hes talking about so i'd listen to him :)

I'm going to say 60mm drop on standard shocks will kill your ass and dampers within 20miles.

Don't go for a cheap cheap set like I did you will be sorry (HotTunning Coilovers)

My 8v was running 17's (offset of 35) and lowered 70mm (cheap coilovers) and was fine apart from catching the rear arches now and again, the issue you have is running lowering spring on standard shock will kill the shocks in very few miles plus will be crap to drive.

Honestly wait and buy a full kit,it is a much better plan and will save you time and money in the long term when you realise you should have bought shocks and springs to start with,better to take it all apart once and do it properly rather than have to take it all apart again when you decide you want a full kit.  :wink:
