Stats and specs...
« on: 31 August 2004, 13:11 »
Hi there.  I'm new to this forum so please excuse my ignorance if similar topics have already been posted.

I'm lookin to get a Golf GT TDi 115PD sometime next year - first things first, how much should I be lookin to pay for one with sub 30k miles on? I do around 30k a year so need a fairly low miler cos I'll need to keep the car around 3 years.

Secondly, what are stats on these (i.e. bhp [I'm sure i read somewhere that PD is not indicative of BHP], torque figures, 0-60's, 40-70's, 0-100's etc) like?  Are they fairly easy to come by?

I know exactly what I want when it comes to gettin this.

Cheers for any help.

here you go chief

http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/tech_data/index.aspx?manu_name=Volkswagen&manufacturer_name=12243&model_id=1031&fueltype=&months=&spare1=&spare2=

as for prices, best bet is to do a local search on autotrader.co.uk

by the way, you are right in thinking that PD115 doesn't tell you the bhp, (its actually PS but that's besides the point) these figures are very conservative from VW. Just ask s11eps and his 186bhp standard PD150  ;)

i was 22 when i bought my 1.8T GTI so i'd say you have a good chance? ;)
www.confused.com will give you a broad range of quotes, you can generally disregard ALL of these apart from admiral, and in some cases churchill as the rest are reserved for old farts.
after that, www.tesco-car-insurance.co.uk .

excellent. also last q for now - do the high miler golfs still get a reasonable amount back at resale? cos I'm gona be puttin around 90k or more on it, but could do with a reasonable amount back... want one about 3-5 years old, 50k miles max really... just gona wait and see what comes up but this is the plan for mid next year... thinking well in advance but gettin fed up with the pug now.

noone wants to buy a high miler, but provided you look after it well, the fact that it's diesel will help you out immeasurably.
