car insurance
« on: 25 July 2009, 14:02 »
Got a mk4 golf last week and I'm a bit pissed off about the insurance, the insurance policy on my old car, Rover 25, is due to expire in September, I wanted to change it over to the Golf and they told me there's a £26 charge to change it over. is this normal? I'm with Direct Line, have been with them for over 10 years. Seriously considering switching to Swift.

yeah admin fee, you're quite lucky.

Week before I got my car my insurance company told me £120 to change over for 2 weeks from 1.3 Fiesta to Golf.

Rang them the day I was due to pick it (like 5 days after the previous call)

"Sorry, you have been declined. There is no record of you ringing and getting a quote for this reg"

It's fair to say - I was Fuming.

Yes - that's because you were changing cars, the admin fee would probably be that £20 or so. What the OP means is just for the privilege of being able to change the insurance, even if it's the same make/model & year you still pay the admin fee of about £20-£30, which for 10mins work is pretty steep and a bit of a rip off.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

I know the OP is only paying an admin fee, I'm talking about my situation.

Get a couple of other quotes and if you can get a cheaper one they will probably match it rather than lose bussiness.
