I know this sounds like a rubbish question but does the sunroof come with a sliding blind to cut the light out if required? anyone know?

It did in my Scirocco, would think yes but can't give you 100%.  The cabin in the GTI without the sunroof is probably less claustrophobic than the Scirocco with it though.

Thanks, must admit kind of liked the dark when I went my test drive, that car didn't have a sunroof at all, however felt that on occasions it would be nice to benefit from that extra bit of light and some nice fresh air in the roof space.

Great reports on re-map too mate.

Funny, I hardly used the sunroof in the 'roc as it tilts up only so just lets in a bit of breeze.  Surely in this day and age they could make the bugger slide back to open up the roof?

Remap is a lot of fun, but there was quite a bit of traffic about today so I need a quiet night to really put my foot down I reckon.

The sunroof in my Peugeot will either tilt or slide right back so that you just have a hole in the roof.  I've been running it in the latter mode quite a lot since the aircon failed and they told me it would cost £600 to repair it.     When I was moving house the weather was sunny, and I ran around like that all day for days, taking stuff to the coup, running back and forwards the 30 miles between old and new houses and so on.  When I got back to work, I was accused of having spent the time off sunbathing, as I'd got quite a tan!

It also has a sliding panel in the same finish as the roof, that blocks it off completely if you want.  I do that after dark unless it's a very clear night.

This car is over 11 years old, and if the Mk VI's isn't at least as sophisticated I'll be very disappointed.

Mind you, my old 1993 XR2 had a thing that just tilted, and had no shutter panel, and it wasn't a lot of cop except to let a bit of light in whether you wanted it or not.  That car had no aircon either, and I was glad to get shot of it.

I'm swaying towards a sunroof for my spec. Will give it a couple more weeks to think over though.

For me, the pros of a sunroof....

- Extra light
- Cooling
- Looks sportier on a car when its raised slightly

Cons...

- Most sunroofs I know always seems to delevop some sort of rattle
- I think they are expensive

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

I've got rattles on the Peugeot, but none of them is anything to do with the sunroof.

There is water coming into the car from that area which I think is down to the sunroof, but it isn't actually bad enough for me to have asked anyone to look at it, and the car isn't exactly a spring chicken.

I think it's a lot better value for money than some of the stuff you're shelling out for, sweetheart!

If you are swithering over the sunroof don't take too long.  I was going to add the luxury pack to my spec only a week after ordering but it was already on screen as going for build and I was unable to change the configuration.  Mind you I'm quite glad now cos the mirrors don't fold automatically on locking the car and that is the only reason I would have gone for that option.

don't forget that a sunroof will reduce the headroom - an issue if guess if you're tall

Mk6 Golf GTI 5dr, DBP, Monza Shadow, Xenons, ACC, RCD510, Park Assist, Camera, Lux pack.... and now bluetooth.... and now DSG!
