HIC Vr6's and the age of 25
« on: 23 July 2009, 23:23 »
I have heard from a friend that HIC now wont cover anyone under 25 on a VR6 mk3.

My mate is 24 and has been with him for 5 years, yet they wouldnt cover him on a VR6 mk3, even though he has had a whole host of modified cars, including turbos etc.

They also now wont do 3rd party on other cars.

Is this true? Sounds like HIC are going the same way as a lot of other insurers. Dont want to leave HIC, but i might have too if i cant get VR6 insurance at the age of 21. When other people on this forum have mk5 gti's at 21! lol

You could always try Brentacre, what ever happens you will need engineers report to confirm the standard of work carried out.

Why not, if you putting a VR6 in they will want it confirmed that everything is in spec.

Not from what they've told me. Both HIC and Brentacre have actually answered me like i was asking a stupid question when asking if an engineer's report is needed. I also know of a mk2 vr6 that didn't require an engineer's report with Brentacre.......

Another friend of mine insures his mk2 vr6 at 21 with HIC. So my mate must just have got a moddy person on the other end of the phone. Panic over.
