If you want an A123 ABC style plate or a AA55 AAA style plate, then the DLVA is the place to get one.
nationalnumbers.co.uk is a good place to find irish and other dateless plates.

No actually!  I used to get called PEEPS at school, and when registering on a couple of forums years ago I discovered PEEPS had been already taken.  Since then I've always used P3EPS since its usually available.  I did look at buying the reg P3EPS when I was a student, but it was £1300.  By the time I was working and had the cash, it had been sold!

I just have a cheepie 'A12 ABC' plate just now, but hopefully one day I'll buy my initials with a '12 AB' style!!

What I'm finding with the dvla though, is that I cant get a registration starting with GIL - with the other sites I can. Not sure why or what I'm doing wrong.

me and my brother bought 61LLY as a present for my dad. As my surname is Gill  :smug:

I saw that up for sale very recently, wasnt it about £16,000 ?

I paid a little less less than that. Was offered more than double a few months ago, but refused. Great investment, especially as there is no capital gains to pay  You do find that companies constantly try to sell your plate and call you with offers all the time even though you havent listed it for sale.

Strange thing is the lady who has G1LLY lives a couple of streets away

I've just bought a plate for my misses as part of her xmas. It said it was unavailable on every site I checked apart from newreg. I have purchased it and went through all the checks, I got the conformation email but right at the end it says they will send me the v750 then it says.. "N.B. In the event that ** *** is no longer available, we will contact you"

Does that mean that maybe they dont actually have this plate even though they are selling, or will it still go through ok ?

Have seen a few crackers but the 1 that I will always remember. I was hitchhiking back in 80/81 when a triumph stag shot up the M6 slip road with this reg HOP1N thought that was cool. Also P155AFF its a scottish thing.

My private reg is an old motor bike reg reversed ie old bike ABC123A I now have A123ABC as a reminder to my past. Just adds a wee touch to the car/bike
