Would that mean that it might work for like a week and then start cutting out? cuz thats what it does at the moment...

haha I'm only 20!! I think a 2.0 8v for an 18 year old is pretty good! (18 is when i 1st got it :))

i have been trying to get hold of a VR6 but for a 20 year old insurance will be mental!

I was 18 when I bought my VR6, I turned 19 just over a week ago.. so I'm hoping to insure it in September

Plug into vag com check fault log(if applicable)

Replace all the vac pipes formed ones come from VW, plain ones  you can get from Marine shop for pennies.

Relays can be a bit tetchy so do the drive around feel the relays bit.
Best to change em anyway.

Crank sensor: change it if vag com picks up a fault or cable/housing is fecked.

If 2E engine clean up ISV/check connection

How often do you give it a good blast?

Own insurance thanks. I don't have the privilege of having parents that pay for me.

I can currently insure it in my own name, with 1yrs no claims, for 1400 squid, or if I wait until September it comes down 200 quid.

Sorry for going off topic btw, hope you get you car sorted :)

hey mate,
ok, ive got a '93 2e engine, and mine is doing as yours is, for example i did 160 miles in it at weekend , with only the occasional hickup, but otherwise fine,
then have it in the garage monday for ecu to be read, no codes...
thentoday its being a twit again and taking a while to start and not idling well...
now im gonna get a different air mass meter cos mine has silicone around it, so poss been tampered with!!
ive replaced split hoses, cleaned tb, cleaned isv, tried different, not new relays, no difference!!
hth :)

Believe me its a dead ringer for you! Even says something stupid!

It's a right pain in the a$$ !! i don't want this to put me off Golfs but its really starting too

On the VR6 subject i'm 20 now and my GTi costs around £450 a year fully comp with 3 years no claims..so i guess a VR6 wouldn't bee too bad then? I reckon below 1k defo!

Well it's raining at the moment so i'll have to look at that another time, so for now DVD Player shall go back in!
