what size wheels

k i have a vw golf 1.8t 20v that i have just got had it for 2weeks and loveing it.

i want to buy some new alloys for it can any tell me what a good size is for it but i want to lower it as well.

i am thinking 17" and lower it oh and is there many probs of golfs poping drive sharfs when lowered as i know some 1 who had a 1.4 16v whith 18 and he was eating the drive shafs ever month.

Did he not notch the Chassis? seen plenty of lowered mk4s about bmouth area, on 18s so shouldn't be a problem you can't overcome
