Mk1 speeds on and on and on
« on: 27 August 2004, 16:46 »
Now you've just got to love the Mk1 golf engines. I was coming home from High Wycombe last night after a friends wedding and I had 2 people in the car including myself, so I thought I would push the car to see just how well it runs and manage to get the speed just off the dials...? ;D ;D ;D

I have to say the car was really unstable at that speed and I quickly come back to 70-80ish, but it's so good to know it will do those speeds from a 21 year old car that is not upgraded in anyway at all.... LOVE IT...? :D

What speed does your car go too...?!!

had the needle nudging 145 before i had to back off as i was running out of dual carriageway private test track, really don't think i'd get anymore than that unless it was downhill with a big wind, could do with a gps reading for accurate figures though.

I had the GPS reading 124mph with Vix and spare cab doors in the back when I had the 8v powering her. My shocks are a little f**k*red so I don't push it too much over 100mph.
