anyone gone from mk 5 to mk 6 in here ?
« on: 17 July 2009, 13:26 »
as per title.....I'll be doing that next week....reading in Performance Car today, they've got both on the long term fleet now and suggesting the 6 isn't quite as fun to drive as the 5, but better is most other aspects....just wondered if anyone in here made the move yet?.

yes i have, i don't really know where less fun comes from its better built, the mk5 wasn't exactly hardcore it was known as a good alrounder and refined compared to most other hot hatches

if i were a mk5 owner it would be a tough decision... as a non mk5 owner, the gti seems like a great buy :)

If mine werent on a lease i probably wouldnt have considered the mk6. But having taken one for a test drive, im sold that its a better car than the mk5.

My only real concern is not having the AWD and if the weather in this country over the last 2yrs is anything to go by I am REALLY going to miss it...

i don't really see the r32 as a mk5 if you know what i mean, its such a different car to drive than a mk5 gti, yep and ive been sort of missing mine for the last 2 weeks especially with the rain and when i saw a dbp one the other day it looked

I am. Loved my mk5 but after 3 years I wanted a change. And what better to change to than a mk6.

Only anecdotal evidence, but there seems to be an increase in the number of quality MkVs on the trader for sale, ie nicely specced ones at sensible money (under 13k) that I would buy.

I guess the emergence of the MkVI is having an effect on the market. There must be a lag effect from announcement, launch, mag reviews, denial (from older model owners) before used car prices for the mk5 is affected.

I'm still v happy to be on the order list for a mk6 but saving over 10k is nagging me!
