Evening Sunday!
Did you have any problems with Byte 18 when your LEDs were coded and fitted?
Snoops has raised this issue on the LED thread.
BTW: What was your BW, please?

PS: Like your knob, but it is not for me as I had a full metal ball with my type R and I continuouly had strange feelings in my palm (!) when changing gear. Besides, it was bloody cold in winter.
I really don't want to be reminded of that bone-shaker.

No one yet is reporting problems except a couple of early 09 cars who have had to use a different code from what i have read, but when ross-tech put a question mark about byte 18 on there info thread until they find out more, with mine im not going to touch anything to do with that byte. Others may take the risk and preach its fine but until ross-tech come back with info from questions they have asked VW i myself will be taking no risk. Funny as it was me who kept showed the german threads on what to change in the first place and i have come full circle  :undecided:

Mine's a late 09 and i've had no problems at all with byte 18, SteveP knows his stuff and dont think he would be doing all these group buy's if people were going to have problems.

Must admit the Edition 30 gear knob is a lot lot better than the golf ball one ive just bought and will end up buying one but will have a look around first as £190 is quite a lot for a gear knob.Especially as ive just paid £70 for the GTI mats from the dealers (dont tell the MK4 squad as they will start another thread about £70 mats! )

I have 100% confidence in Steve so I have no worries at all.
I love the Ed 30 gear knob very much. It is a work of art.
I wonder if someone can start a group buy?
Maybe I should go to my dealer and try and prise a sustantial discount on a buy of a dozen and post the result on the forum? What do you think?
Hmm .....

When i spoke to my dealer about the edition 30 gear knob and almost fainted with the price he reckons the gear knob costs them £150+vat and he only makes £10 on it so no discount is available.

Smells like BullSh1t to me!

+1
They probably buy it for at least 33.3% below list. They make huge profits on accessories.

I remember my BMW 316 8 years ago, I bought the manual M-shift (with a very small light in it, illuminating the switch pattern ) because I did not like the standard shift ....I think that will set me back a good 700 euro at least nowadays... :lipsrsealed:

I leased it for 4 years and had 4 years all the fun..in other words I will do that again...
