Hi all
Sorry to go back over all ground, but is the boot mod easy?
IE the skoda parts, stick em on, and hey presto? Is the "sticking on" bit easy?
I rather fancy it, I trust myself to not open it where there is a low roof

All help much appreciated
Cheers
PS any idea how much they cost?

I lifted the part number from this thread on motor-talk.de.

http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/heckklappe-automatisch-oeffnen-mit-fernbedienung-es-geht-doch-t2406190.html?page=15

He suggests that the skoda dampers are a direct fit. However, since I last looked there has been a lot more conversation on the subject. A bit further on in the thread, there is some uncertainty whether the p/n given has enough force to open the hatch under all temperature conditions... there is also some unanswered concern regarding the long-term effect of the additional force on the latch mechanism.

There is an alternative mod which I've seen done on the Mk5 with a couple of springs and some shrink-wrap. Can't recall where I saw it though - might have been vwvortex.com
Golf R

Dammit, nowt's ever simple is it, 36 pages of discussion about it all in German!
I did a degree in it 12 years ago, and still can't work out whether its an easy job or not, or whether it'd work, or just break the boot!
When I press the boot opening key fob switch, it still seems to me that you have to manually click the boot open with the VW badge, so with that in mind I don't get how any springs could open it, but that said, am no modding genius.
I'll just stick to research for now, until someone of authority can help me, no rush, only had it a week!

Guys, I'm looking for a smart set of door sills. Don't want anything chavvy, boy racer or flash. Just something smart. Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

I've been looking for a while, there doesn't really seem to be anything nice out there but let us know if you see anything.  Weird that VW aren't making some as i had some sweet ones in the Scirocco.

Mk5 ones will probably fit. The Golf R will have them and VW will probably do a set in their R line range of accessories. Every time I check on the VW website it says 'new accessories brochure coming soon' so hopefully the delay means more mk6 stuff being added.

Agreed, and they're also in a place where you would rarely scuff anyway. I prefer the ones that go on the plastic trim on the top, though given that part is probably only a few quid to replace, protecting it with expensive brushed aluminium plates seems a bit like overkill.
