Got my car serviced yesterday (2nd service at £180) - rather confused that they didn't do the brake fluid or aircon service (apparently that's two years independent of mileage, ie Sept!), but was very impressed otherwise....
I've experienced a couple of problems over the past few months with the DSG:
1. When braking, the car seems to change down just slightly too late - just enough to make the engine struggle a tiny bit and create a slight tugging sensation.
2. After a long motorway stint, heavy traffic isn't always good to deal with - there's a bit of a rough take-up from coming off the brake to the accelerator, and from time to time the car kangaroos (slightly) as a result.
Reading earlier posts on this site, I wondered whether it was a mechatronic problem - but, given the amount of grief others seem to have experienced before the mechatronic controller was changed, I expected a few visits just to prove the point.
Not so - the stealer suggested I should go out with a master technician to show him the problem, (typically it wasn't easy to reproduce or as obvious with him sat there). Straight away, he said he could be the mechatronic unit, but he'd need to check version numbers, software, etc.
Anyway, long story short, with no pain whatsoever, the car will have its mechatronic controller replaced in a couple of weeks. I am pleased and relieved - hopefully this means that VW now recognise the problem and others should find the same!
Just thought I'd post in case others find it useful.... Does anyone know how much the replacement would be charged at? Looking at other sites, it suggests about £2k, in which case I'm very pleased to have the warranty!
