that useless hole behind the gear stick...
« on: 27 August 2004, 14:28 »
I saw a thread about three to six months ago about special "pods" that you could get to fit in that large hole behind the gear leaver and turn it into a useful second cubby hole, etc.... think they were about ?15-?20.

I laughed it off at the time, but now that useless space is starting to bug me. It's good for jumpers / small jackets, not much else... aeverythign else jsut rattles / slides around.

Can anbody remember where you can buy these pods / if they're any good?

thanks all!

Fitting one of these fills some space and is quite useful.

Mine should arrive any day now.? I'll post a pic when fitted.

Or, what about this?  I don't know if there is a difference in RHD/LHD for these things.

Thanks JTE - that's the sort of thing I'm after... thought I'd seen one that was a mix between those two. It gave you a small pocket at the bottom, storage for 4-8 Cd's (much the same as your e-bay link, maybe not quite as slick) and then had a Mk4/Audi-style slide out cup holder..... then a small  tray at the top.

are you meaning the centre console in front of the gear stick cos that's well useful for lobbing keys and fags, etc.

some people pop their headunit there and put gauges up the top.

JTE - no I'm never too demanding ";D"

Yes, Dizzie, that gap... I have a side door pocket for that stuff... don;t use the big pocket 'cos stuff rattles around in there...

Yes JTE - fills up the entire pocket...

I'm thinking that maybe a TMtuning one cut down to allow enough space for the C-Box to fit in on top..... hmmmm.... will have to think about it.

Car's gotta go in for new CV boots and I'm tkaing the plunge and getting new suspension done at the same time... no spare cash for ANYTHING right now!!!

you could move you headunit down there and put gauges where the headunit use to be. you can get 4 along that ridge there. or put 4 gauges down in the centre console?
