I use Autosol. Very good all round product.

autosol is very good all round but if you want shiny shiny then try something like belgom alu

if you are having trouble removing deposits in the first place try 00 guage wire wool or fine grade wet n dry and then farecla G3 or then autosol and then belgom alu

belgom alu has a wax in it which helps maintain your shinyness  but you could always whack a wax over, say your exhaust tips, for example  :wink:

I'm actually to do the triple carbs and rocker covers on an E type engine I've just bought.

Bought the car not just the engine it's not a crazy project ;)
