Aftermarket exhausts on small bumpers?

So my standard system has given up the ghost and sounds like a frecking tank, hence the need to replace it. I've been looking into various bits that are being sold on the site and was wondering how aftermarket units fit on small bumper models? I've see a few small bumpers with these but they generally tend to stick out lke a sore thumb, looking pretty lame if i say so myself.

Is lots of modification needed to get it to sit right or do they sell specific small bumper exhausts? Sorry if this a proper nooby question i just i'v never looked into exhausts really as i've only done engine stuff

Most of the off the shelf stuff is tailored for the BB cars and do look a little OTT on a SB car. The exhaust on the track toy looks bloody stupid now I've gone small bumper but never mind, not a show car though so who cares, ha ha.

Ah i thought so much Bummer!

I've thought about modification but thinking about it now, the bend to go over the rear beam would have to be re-shaped and bent in order for the exhaust to be moved back under the car more, correct me if i'm wrong?

Yeah it's all in the tail pipe bit really. All the off the shelf stuff would benefit from chopping an incch off the tail pipes.

See the problem there is if you cut the end off you'd lose any type of inwardly/outwardly rolled finish and it'd look turd Bloody small bumpers god dammit!

Anyone else shed any light on this?

Hmm not really what I was looking at. I have considered a single pipe but wasn't really feeling it.

I had a few custom longlifes on small bumpers, had an SS "replica"
on my early Mk2 with single 2.5" pipe exit and painted in back box
Also used Std 16v back box with custom unit up to down pipe, new oversize pipe cut and welded into std B box.
Big shiney exhausts on small bumpers tend to look wrong if not done
with care.
Up rated mounts are essential, seen so many Mk2s with the back box swinging around not good

It depends what you want to do with the car. I saw your car today and it seems in good fettle and worth working on. Once you have done your engine swap, you could look at upgrading the bumpers to big ones, then really, any exhaust will suit it.
