Spotted a scirocco this morning in white, all you guys who say you lurve the car must need to take a visit to the opticians imo it looks like a golf thats been sat on by a ten ton bullock, totally squashed and extremely ugly.  Thank god I went for the Golf GTI.

The appearance of a car is such a personal thing though.  I must have a hatchback, it must be able at least to take a mountain bike in the back.  And I now really need five doors and reasonable comfort in-back.  So if I see a sleek coupe, I don't judge it according to whether I would like one like that myself - it just isn't in the frame.

Thank goodness we're not all the same, or the roads would be filled with identical cars and we'd never be able to spot our own in the car park!

Rolfe.

When the Scirocco was launched over here last September, I thought it looked so fantastic I asked my dealer how much it would cost me to trade in my 2-month-old Eos for one. Over the months, however, I have got used to the new VW face and the Scirocco looks quite ordinary now. I sat in the new Polo the other day and thought that was fantastic: I think I must just love new cars :)

I have always wanted a Scirocco since the original was launched, what 15 years ago? It was for that reason that I ventured into a VW dealership. And there in the middle of the showroom was a white Scirocco blinking its bling bling at me. I wasted no time to seek out how much it was. IIRC it was Euro21k for the highline version. Hmmm, I had just bought a BMW 5 series and thought maybe I'll wait a bit. Was actually contemplating trading in back the 5 series and luckily good sense prevailed.

Now its been a year, and again I ventured into the VW dealership and I brought several friends along. I was interested in getting the Scirocco. Although my pals said the Scirocco's a beaut, though this time it was a metallic grey version. My friends commented that it only had two doors, fairly cramp inside... One of my friends said the moment you are in it you already feel the stress. Stress that you need to floor the accelerator the moment you are driving it. ha ha ha... Others commented that it had a small boot, the seats in the rear had limited headroom and the two front pillars seemed a little thick and was obstructing the driver's view.

I asked whether I could test drive it but the dealership did not have a demo at the moment. So I walked over to the GTI section... and took a test drive of the GTI... and I guess I never looked back at the Scirocco... Perhaps when I have 3 or 4 cars, I might get the Scirocco as a fun car to drive on the weekend. ha ha ha

I think the Scirocco looks great. Deffo better in the flesh than in photos (as does the mk6 Golf). Only critisism I have would be the common one of the suspension looking too high esp at the back.
I could do with a 5 door as I have two growing kids and occasional ageing relatives to transport, otherwise I'd have signed on the dotted line by now, a Pewter Grey one with 19 inch wheels floats my boat.
Oddly enough I prefer the standard version on the outside to the steroid infused R version on its way. I like the Rs interior and engine though!

Im a fan of them. Think they look very smart although not a fan of the 'Roco in white, looks a bit girly. Was having a play with a lad who looked about 12 in a black one the other day (love the moded GTI, everyone is always soo surprised and how fast it is. He asked me at the lights why I left with such ease :D) and the black really did look tasty . . .

Mixed feelings from me. Loved the concept then thought they totally wimped out with the actual car. Then saw it in the flesh and thought it was actually pretty cool, but then sat in it and felt claustrophobic. I'm only 5ft 7 and my head was grazing the roof lining in the back. V poor visability all round. Agree with the others that I need practicality hence its the golf for me.

Isn't this a golf gti forum anyway?!
