 Ok, So I know that people say to add second coats of polish/wax. I have used AG SRP on my car and read that you should give it 5 coats to do a good job, so do I put one coat on then buff it off before putting the next one on or can I just put the second coat on without buffing? same for the wax, I've got some PB's nattys blue, how many coats should I put on and do i buff each coat off or not?

I would only put on two coats of SRP max, then I would use something like AG EGP followed by a few coats of a good wax and I would buff off between coats and not put one coat on straight after the other.

yes... erm... don't know what advice you have been getting and reading but someone wants you to expend more effort than you need to!!

SRP isn't a product that remains on the car, it is a polish, that is all, it scarifies the top layer and removes impurities... if you need to be doing this twice then the product really isn't very good at all.

wrt the wax... use as many coats as you like.. but you do have to buff each coat off before you apply the second coat. you will find buffing easier if you apply the product only a couple of panels at a time and not allowing the wax to 'cake' on.  ideally you will be giving the applied wax time to cure after buffing, an hour or so minimum, 24 ideally.

remember wax is a sacrificial layer, the more you have on the better protected your shine will be. 3 coats is a good figure. wax your wheels too to prevent brake dust adhering to the alloy.

as guy said really :wink: the more layers of wax you build up over time the better the protection and shine, cannot stress enough how much easier it is to keep your wheels clean if you keep them well waxed, nattys blue is a good wax for both said applications, also give collinite 845 insulator wax gel,awesome stuff.

The bit I put about two coats of SRP was a qoute from a thread about how to get the best from it on DW and it sounds resonable to me  :undecided:

For the initial layer I use quite firm pressure as well, but for any subsequent layers I then switch to a foam pad (like the megs yellow, or soft side of the 2 mentioned earlier) and use very light pressure to both get the best out of the fillers and not be removing too much of the underlying first layer.
