Ignition Live

Hey guys,
I have had a search about, whilst ive found some information i cant find others.

I have just installed a Pioneer avic x1 head unit (im a complete AV nut) and it works great. How ever, typical Mk2 issue, no ignition live to the radio.
I have seen suggestions for just splicing an ignition live feed of something else that do have it - i.e heater fans etc. This head unit must draw quite a bit more power than your average headunit would do, so Id like to wire up some thing directly from the fuse box if possible.

Is there any where on the fuse box that i can take an ignition live directly from?
If not, where would be the best place to get an ignition live from? Its got to be able to take a bit of current from it.

hi the headunit doesnt draw much current from the ign feed as it is only a signal wire to turn it on and off so you can join in to most things best bet is just solder in to ign switch wiring at the back of the fuse box if u like dont 4 get fuse holder

the ig live going into the heated screen switch is a convenient one

check your ignition switch, if it has an unused S or SU pin, get down the scrappy and chop a length of wire out of another VAG ign switch attached to a suitably sized pin. pin 'P' is a straight fit, or if you find a MK3 they use the SU pin.

This pin is 'key in ignition' live, which means your radio will come on with just the key in the ignition

At sounds perfect, I will have to give that a go.
For now I've spliced off a feed from the heate switch just to turn it on and off with the key.
Il definatly be giving that a go though.
