I would agree the Blue Graphite can probably be described as a color tinged shade of grey.  I just found the black/grey/white series boring, and the red too bright.  And I preferred the Graphite to the Shadow, again the Shadow Blue is a shade I'm not that fond of.

I'm trying hard not to see the Blue Graphite as the best of a bad bunch, but for me I suppose it is.  I probably wouldn't feel any resentment of all the blacks and greys (more than 50% of the colours available are black or grey) if there was a reasonable choice apart from that.  I just think the designers haven't even imagined these cars might also attract lady owners.

As has been posted before there are some fab colours on the German website albeit at an extortionate price, but it might be worth them giving us the choice of brighter colours at the same costs of the colours on offer now.

Good point!  I'd have absolutely any of the colours on offer for the Golf in a heartbeat before I'd consider either of these.

That orange is offensive, and the green actively vomit-inducing.

And you might as well paint on a sign saying, just keep an eye on me Officer, and you'll have a successful cop in no time.

I really don't know why they don't.  Since each car is built to specification, what harm would it do them to include maybe a lighter blue and a champagne or something like that?  These colours are commonplace on cars, and perfectly popular, and don't cost any more than any of the others.

I've no particular objection to them including three shades of grey and two of black, but what on earth is the logic in providing such a wide choice to those who prefer monochrome shades, while restricting those of us who would have preferred a colour?

Frankly, the car is fairly gorgeous in any of the colours, but surely you have to accommodate a reasonably wide range of possible customer tastes to mmaximise sales?

I do wish they would make it for the UK in the light blue of the car shown at the paris motorshow (same as the scirocco blue iirc rather than deepbluepearl)  and also the firespark red metallic of the car at the VW show a month ago or so, at least that would give us a little more of a choice. :undecided:

Heh Rolfe

Today I have seen a 5 door Graphite Blue GTI parked in a local car park and I think you are going to love yours when you get it, it's a colour I always rejected cos I'm a boring old middle ager and conservatively went for black cos I just love black (as good a reason as any I guess) anyway the graphite looked abso stunning all new and shiny admittedly it had the 18"s fitted which I think gave it extra class but again that is a matter of choice and of course opinion.

Keep up the posts.

I was just looking at the pics of the car they showed in Paris last year, and I absolutely loved the colour.  I'd have bought that for sure.  I don't know why, if it was good enough for one of the car's first public appearances, it wasn't good enough for the customers.

Still, I hope I will like the Blue Graphite.  It's hard to say, as I haven't seen it on an actual car.  I quite like the picture in the brochure, but the sample in the showroom seemed very dark.

Have you been on the volkswagen.co.uk site where you can configure your own gti, when you get to the paint colours you can add them all to your car to see which you like,  at the end you just don't save your configuration.  The colours are pretty much true to real life and give you a chance to see what you might order or might have already ordered.  Give it a whirl girl

blue graphite on the vw website looks absolutely    . there only basic basic colour guides. ie- to show shades of grey silver etc. I would definetely not go by them to judge in real life.
