GTDi
« on: 08 July 2009, 17:49 »
Sorry guys have ordered a new Steel grey GTDi after having owned a Mark V gti. (Am I allowed on this forum??)
I have gone for the diesel after my engine exploded in the mark V  and after having had an Audi TT for two years.
Has anyone got a picture of their Steel grey GTI? mark VI that can be viewed?

I have not seen one.

You need the oil burner thread. (if it exists)
Mk7 GTI. DBP, DCC, Winter pack. Mine since new, July 2013.
GTI no. 4. Golf no. 5.  VW no. 7.

Lots of people have told me the diesel is great.  That I'm an idiot not to have considered it.  That it has torque you wouldn't believe.

Don't rain on the guy's perfectly nice parade!

Isn't the GTD the same engine/power as the mk5 GT sport diesel?

Seems a peculiar marketing option from VW to give it the same (almost) body and interior as the GTI.
I know diesels have torque but it's really not in the the same league unless you want to talk about mpg (???)

Are they targeting company car buyers?

IF I was ever going to buy a diesel then it would be a GTD.

i would say very good choice especially when upgrading from a mk5gti, the mk5 lacked a performance diesel it only had the gt which really did not cut it when compared to the mk4gtdi, if diesel works for you and you want to keep the gti badge it is a sensible choice

i would say it is the most innovative car in the mk6 range

ps send it over to the guys at revo and you will probably have a monster of a car

You're welcome here.

Nawt wrong with the GTD, they're 170PS and have a 0-60 of 8.1 seconds and 258lb/ft.
So only 1.2 seconds slower than a GTI and if you're a better driver than the bloke in a GTI you'd beat him.

With a remap it'll be even better

I love my GTD (even if it is 18yrs old)

I drove the MK5 GT Sport (derv) and it was sweet, I can only imagine the MK6 is much better.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

new GTD looks pretty cool but fook me it is pricey!!!

i specced one up the other day and managed to get it to around £25,000!! And i missed out most of the pricey options!!

I would have thought they'd push the power a little more too  :undecided:
