First service - 15 extra miles added to clock
« on: 07 July 2009, 14:40 »
I just had my first service and reported a rattle in the dash. Getting the car back four hours later I was surprised to see the car had been taken for 15 miles. I realise they'd want to test the rattle had been fixed, but isn't 15 miles excessive? Also mpg was 16mpg... :/

On the positive side, the rattle seems to be fixed! :D

when we had our golf go in to fix a problem which later resulted in new throttle body. i set the tracker device to send me a text if mph hit 40. although we had an extra 100 miles on the clock i did not get a message once, i did warn them after 2 days that the car had a tracker and im checking that they are not using the car for personal. they had the car for well over a week tho

I had to go to my local dealer yesterday to order some parts (i recommend being cheeky and asking for a discount, i saved over £100!) and on my way there I was following what appeared to be a customer's mk5 GT being driven "spiritedly" by one of the young vw techs.

And that's why I use specialists for all service work..

You should ALWAYS note the mileage when dropping the car off.

It is a sad fact that a lot of technicians do rag the sh*t out of cutomer cars.

I rang my dealer the other day to book a service and was told someone would ring me back in 20 mins. 2 hours later I rang back and was again told someone would ring.....nothing. needless to say I had it done at a specialist who gave excellent service and at half the price.

Got my car back from the stealers with one extra mile on it

But used a quarter tank of fuel and the long term fuel economy had dropped from aroun 26 to 21

Must have been sat there idling the whole time it was in  :undecided:

I always note the mileage when dropping my car off for service or any work, worst case I had was a local garage did a service added over 120 miles plus were caught speeding in it 89 in a 50, needless to say I have not used them again.
