They are about if your looking for one...
You don't see many on the road but they came out in late 2000 I think and ran up to 2005. They weren't badged as a GTi though, just 1.8T like the Passats and Boras.

I have got my eye on one at the moment.
1 owner from new, 92k...totally standard, looks immaculate.
VERY tempted by it. Once i dump it 30mm and stick some shiny new rims on it would look the nuts

Go for it mate if it's what you want / need... To be honest I think the estates look rather good when modded!!

There aren't many about. I found 4 worth looking at and only 1 at a bargain price.. which i snapped up

They ride veeery high at the back so you might want a bit more than 30mm if you want slammage. Just remember that although the rear suspension setup is basically the same as any golf, you need springs specifically for the estate as they're a heavier spring rate.
