Resetting ECU !!!!!!!
« on: 06 July 2009, 17:48 »
Just put a new throttle body with new sensors on my gti 16v  mk3, wich as inproved my car's performance but there is still a slight hesitation in the power around 3000 revs just for a split second! then it kick's in , my mate who use towork at VW said te ECU need's resetting!.

I have VAGCOM which i used to sort my problem out but i did not register it (can't afford to just yet) is there any other way of doing this on the cheap or a way that wont damage the ECU or anyother part of my car.

Thanks Nic

unplug the battery for 30mins, then plug back in.

Turn on ignition but dont start car and you will hear the throttle body setting itself.

Then it should relearn itself from the first drive.

Should take about 30seconds to stop clicking. Could just start it straight away if you feel like it, but people always say to let it mess about with itself first.

you should leave battery unplugged 30 mins, then turn ignition to position 2 for 3 minutes and then start the car and leave idleing for another 3 minutes.
