i don't see how they can quote power figures for a map not developed yet?
The EA888 GTI engine has been around a while now in Audis so it has already been fettled by tuners. It doesn't take them long to get an idea of what they can to once they crack the ECU code.

I like the look of Superchips' BlueFin thingy, but is it for real? I mean, can you just plug the thing into the car and basically dial in how much power you want?

I don't know, it seems a bit too good to be true?

TIA :)
You don't just dial in how much power you want. You have 2 maps, one the standard VW one and another that Superchips have developed.

Being as there is no such thing as a free lunch, what are the down sides to remapping ?
As above, the possibility of more wear on some items but decent tuners will thoroughly road test and develop maps before releasing them to the general public. That's why some cost more than others and take longer to get to the market place.

How much on average do you think it will bump you're insurance premiums ? Maybe the mk5 trolls guys would be better placed to answer this ?

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

so all the hype about it being a brand new engine design specifically for the new GTI was just that, hype?

The only unique bit is the wheel barrow exhausts and the sound resonator thingy. I haven't seen SEAT mention the sound thingy in the Leon FR brochure that I can remember.
Talking of which I was reading up on the Ibiza Bocanegra t'other day and the way it was worded is that it too will have a sound thingy like the GTI.
Most people who've driven the new GTI haven't even noticed the supposedly amplified engine and exhaust noise though, maybe it only works on full throttle and they haven't dared thrash a new car that hard with a salesman/woman sat next to them?

It sounds nice, but then they could've just fitted a sports exhaust to the demo cars and not told us

Wouldn't put it past them to do a few discreet modifications without telling anyone!
I wonder who will end up the lucky owners of those ex-VW fleet cars with one careful VW employee owner? I notice the plates were blanked off in the photos.

Nicely run in I guess.....
