My 'Baby' did me proud last night !!
« on: 24 August 2004, 08:59 »
Before I go any further does anyone own or know someone with a tastfully modded Bora 4 Motion on the forum in the sussex area on 17's ??  ;D

Well I'm not one to brag, but I was soo chuffed with my (what some would class as a lowly) 8 valve last night! As some of you know it's not standard, but only some small 'fettling' ...

Anyway, on the way home from work there are quite a few sets of traffic lights along a stretch of dual carriageway. It's only 40 mph and rather urban, but I spotted 3 lads in a rather nice 2.8 4 motion raggin away from every set of lights he could. As the traffic progressed we ended up along side each other heading on to a long roundabout on to a normal 70mph dual carriage way.

I thought I'd have some fun and give it some to see how long i could keep up - round the round about on the outside the SPAX did me proud and I ended up 2 car lenghts ahead going on to the carriage way; pop in to 3rd and floor it - you can see all his mates pointing any waving, in to 4th and he's still not really gaining  ??? I'm shocked but keep going .... it wasn't till the top end of 4th and in to fifth that he got me - put then the Bora really did leave me for dead  :(

I never expected to kick his ass at all - but to fend him off till 90 or so from a standing start was great ! And before anyone makes any wise cracks at slow 8 valves - yes he was definately trying !  ;D

Just wait till I get that 2.1 TSR lump  :-*

You wish Gav ;)

Might have to do some more investigation - but certainly no cam. What's the best way to check for a 2.0 bottom end ??
