ideal moilage when looking at buying a 1.8t
« on: 04 July 2009, 02:20 »
Been looking at quite a lot of 1.8ts however noticed they've got quite a high amount of mile i.e. 100k, I'm just wondering what you would ideally suggest as a max mileage for purchasing one.

Mine did 100K when I bought it.
I would say as long as it has service history or partial service history it will be fine, are you buying it from a garage or private?
Garage will offer some kind of warranty which is good
Private you wont get any warranty

ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

Don't even go there, you know mine had less

Rich's Golf has 130k on it now!  He's looked after it like it was his first born though.  As long as the car has been well looked after, it should be all good.

Mine had 47k on it when I first got it, like everyone has said as long as it's been looked after the mileage isn't usually a problem

Low mileage can go against you though, it can mean that faults haven't reared their head yet

Mines got 140k on it now and it still runs great.it has full service history.I don't think high mileage matters as long as it has  been well maintained.

Thanks for the replies ladies and gents! Just like any car in a honest opinion, treat it well and it will treat you well back aka not emptying your pockets each month just like my spaxo vts does to me almost every month! (wish i never bought it)

The other half has agreed to me being able to buy one as I think shes getting tired of seeing it go in too often, for the price of repairs I've done to it I could of bought one already!

Cheers
