Engine Oil Flush

Would it be a must to have an engine oil flush before completely changing the oil as part of a service?

I would give it an engine flush esp with longlife oil, There's a lot debate about longife oil. I use long life in mine, but I change it evey 4000 miles. This is just to keep the engine in pristine condition. I would never leave oil in my car for 20,000 miles, and thats what they recomend for longlife. I have spoken to many technician's about this oil & they all have differant opinons on this stuff. I have been told by some tec's that I am waisting my money by doing this. But do I care (no I dont) I bloody care about my car though. This oil does clog the engine up if you leave it in for thousands of miles. So Flush out the old, in with the new:grin: for piece of mind> Thanks Steve30

A lot of people use the (higher spec) longlife oil but on the time and distance regime so oil changes after 10k max.

Thanks Steve, yeah im pretty much of the same opinion. i dont fancy putting nice new clean oil in a dirty engine. i think my garage was chargeing £56 for an engine flush but ill  check when it does in tomorrow. the cheeky sods wanted to charge me £10 for a courtesy car. Lexus never did and they used it give is250's with nice smooth v6 engine's to ride around in. ok i understand that VW and Lexus are at different ends of the spectrum but still when u buy a gti its still a considerable sum of money ad they should show the customer some respect. we're not all boy racer toe rags . Rant over
