Squeeky squeek!!!
« on: 01 July 2009, 19:47 »
Everything's gravy apart from a bloody annoying constant chirp / squeek!!

Associated with wheel rotation on front n/s (gets faster with increase in speed).  Noise changes tone with light braking and then disappears under full braking, so believe must be pad rubbing on disc.  There is no brake judder / pulling to side etc.  I think noise changes slightly with turning, but hard to tell.

Car has recently had n/s bearing and front discs done, also cv boot on that front corner.

Is this squeeky problem now pointing at a dodgy hub causing the new disc to still runout / rub slightly?

Budget cost for fix?  Replacing the hub will also need another new bearing yes?

yes could be tht cos you have just had the discs done

as for hub you may be able to get a decent one from a scrap yard :) (had to do it with my escort)

and im pretty sure it doesnt mean you have to have another new bearing

Anyone else got any thoughts?

Possible hub problem.  Does replacing the hub mean a new wheel bearing?

Is a replacement hub a VW thing only?  Cost for parts and time to fix?

Who did the repairs?? If its a garage take it back and ask them to check it for you. Should'nt cost anything for them to check it over. Take the wheel off and have a look yourself you may find something...
