I looking to get a golf 1.8 t gti soon, but i thought id research alittle before hand.
I want to know ur thoughts and views on the engine and car, as in if its reliable ? and if it has caused you many problems ?,
Are the parts on the car build to last a while or are they just like the french rubish i own at the mo made to fall apart after 30k miles lol   :sick:.
Any veiws would be great

Gone but still keeping a close eye on it...

Mk4 golf 1.8t AUM Hybrid K03s. Custom Mapped by R-tech to 260bhp. CR hybrid turbo Audi TT injectors / fuel pump, Forge tip,THS FMIC,Carbonio CAI, Full milltek turbo back, N249 bypass, Fully poly bushed, Weitec coils. Genuine R32 front bumper and Genuine R-line rear, Genuine Porsche twists, Anniversary black interior.

Honda CTR = bomb proof.

1.8 T's can be very tempremental indeed. :(

I'd still pick a Mk4 over a CTR, though! ;)

I look at it like this.. they are no more problematic than any other engine, but any faults are usually easily recognised because it is such a well known motor and parts are easy to come by. There's enough info on here and other forums to make a lot of the jobs that may need doing a DIY task. The endless tuning options are an obvious advantage to speedfreaks like me.

Yeah, I think I am emotionally attached to the 1.8T engine  :embarassed:

well i have not had mine long but a friend had it before me and between us its been good. just the normal bits etc.
now drivin a golf 1.9 tdi 90bhp ... time to rack up them miles!! as my daily
