Hot Weather performance (or lack of)
« on: 30 June 2009, 21:12 »
I'm finding above 25 degrees performance and MPG tail off at an alarming rate, I was at the dealers today having my second MOT and a one of the sales guys who is driving a scirocco said his was crap as well. Anyone else finding this?

You can hear the turbo winding up but it just doesn't seem to translate into power.

If this is the case how do you guys in hot countries put up with it?

Loyal owner since 2005, done with remapping, I drive a Golf not a Veyron. (hypocrite)

once you tune it it gets even worse.
Before I installed S3 cooler (but already with 300hp map) I could feel the difference in performance when the temperature changed 5 degrees C.  :lipsrsealed:

Now with S3 cooler, sport downpipe and 3-inch exhaust, my MPG in 30 degree weather is better than what I had without these parts in 15 degree weather.

Iv noticed my midly tuned GTI to be off the pace in this hot weather (its not got as noticeable kick off power as it used to), I thought something was wrong but then just put it down to the stupid temperatures we are getting down south at the moment.

Im glad you made this post actually as its not just me.

Glad you mentioned this. I've been putting my foot down to find it's a waste. I thought my turbo fell out during an overtake and almost mated with the front end of a truck. Not my idea of a good time!

....

I haven't felt any noticeable loss in power at all in this hot weather - Just that everything is hot when I stop. Done a 170-mile run mostly on fast A-roads this afternoon.

Do you guys run your AC all year round?

Mine's bust so its turned off, but performance hasn't been too badly affected.  That said it is running about 150bhp at the minute because the turbo actuators also bust so I might not be noticing it as its already slow.
