EDIT: How do i check on the system what version of the map its got installed?

If its running the older firmware

Use the hidden test menu, to access you need to enter the car, put key in ignition till nav screen starts coming on Manufacturer logo, then press and hold setup button for 20 - 30 seconds, or until the full Hidden set up menu screen comes up

If that doesn't work then you will need to enable the hidden menu using VAGCOM

Part number on the unit is 1T0 051 680 B
So its version B but will give what you said a try.

Create a folder called Trance on the SD card, put the tunes in that, select that folder name on the screen, then select copy, then insert here and it will copy the folder Trance and its contents into the root of the hdd. If you want to add more to that folder than will fit on the SD card, keep the same folder name, and fill it with more tracks and it will add to the one already on the HDD

Im sure i tried this but it gave me the option of either replacing, renaming or something else.

yes, select replace and it will add the new music to the folder. It won't actually replace anything unless the filename is the same.
Diamond Black Golf GTI, DSG, Monza IIs, Cruise, MFSW, Rear Tints and Ipod. VRmmmmmmmm!

Thanks. Will try that later.

Holding Setup down for 20/30sec does not do anything for me.....

On a side note. I have managed to get hold of the v4 maps. I burnt them using the UDF system (DVD-Rom) because that was what nero said as it refused to burn them as a normal ISO. But they dont work in the system.

How have you guys burnt them?

Is there anyway with this unit to playback DVD's while the car is moving? Ive heard you can disconnect the wire that senses the movement, but that screws up the satnav feature. Any firmware available to sort this, as my passengers would like to view dvd's if I get this unit.
MKV Black GTi ¦ 3 Door ¦ Manual ¦ Leather ¦ Monza II ¦ Armrest ¦ iPod ¦
Mods:- Smoked Wing Mirror Indicators
Future Mods:- RNS510 Stereo

Because of the canbus control you will need to get a TV free module to enable DVD on the move. There isn't a modified version of the firmware available

To burn a DVD try a DVD +RW disc

I used Nero with the following settings:
ISO
No multisession
File system: ISO 9660 only
Filename length: Max. of 31 chars (level 2)
Allow path depth of more than 8 characters
Allow more than 255 characters in path
Do not add ISO ";1" file version extension
Date: Use the date and time from original file
Burn: Write, finalise disc, burn speed = 2x.

I used Poweriso to burn my maps onto a DVD.  I just opened up the iso file in it and let the program do the rest.  Just read that V5 is available.  Wonder what changes are in that version?  :undecided:

Poweriso also lets you modify the map files so you can put the cameras locations on.

Mine didn't come as an ISO.
It was just a rar file from which I extracted two files:

CD_6672.mdf (3.35gb)
CD_6672.mds (4.22kb)

EDIT: Converted .mdf file to .iso file using UltraISO. Going to burn it and see if it works.

Works! Or atleast I think it does.

I insert the DVD and it throws up no errors. But it does nothing and i dont know how to select it.
When I eject it, it says "Ejecting Navigation Disc..." so it recognises for what it is.

Whats the crack then?
Is it not doing anything because its the same version of maps that is on the HDD (v4)?
