18" Monza repair
« on: 29 June 2009, 11:24 »
Hi Guys,

My partner was driving the GTI to work this morning (I normally drive but have the day off) and some looney Japcrap driver was overtaking another car but didn't have room so my partner had to veer to the left and scraped the alloys along the kerb.

Firstly is it possible to have the wheels repaired (as they're so highly polished) and if so can someone recommend the best people to do it... should I take it to the VW dealer and get them to sort it?

Thanks,
Richard.

The company who fix will most probably take the wheel off you for a few days its its diamond cut so not your average wheel refurb.

I'm in Nottingham.

Is it possible to get the wheels repaired?  I'm concerned the diamond cut finish can't be repaired :-(

Yes they can be repaired using a special diamond cut machine.

Nope, sorry.

Your best bet is to try and get a recommendation from someone on here or phone around the ones in your local area and inform them of the wheel you have, explain its a diamond cut finish and ask them if they can repair it. The worst they can say is no we cant in which case you phone someone else.

Try Lepsons.  I've not used them myself but they get a very good press.  Their main branch is in the south east but I beleive they have one in the Birmingham area which could suit you.

You could try http://www.spitandpolish.co.uk/

There is a comapny called thepolishedwheelcompany down in Cornwall who i used to refurb my old wheels on the mk4. They did a great job, he used to work for spit and polish before moving down this way too start up on his own.

They have a delivery service so you could run round on the spare for a few days?
