Someone breaking in and stealing the  keys ?

pro theives will always go for the keys. Amateurs will keep well away as they wouldnt know what to do once they have put the window through.

Yes i`ve seen that on t.v,i live in a o.k area so i`d need to be very unlucky for that to happen,point taken though.Even seen them with a tele scopic rod and magnet trying to fish for the keys.Toss pots
Golfgti build quality is average at best.

Area you live in desnt matter. If they see a nice car they can just follow you to where u live. :wink: Clever guys these pro's!

Thats how its done and with a new car its almost the only way its done. Pretty much just hide your keys and your cars safe. Bit of crime prevention info for you, its known that car thiefs break into lockers at gyms, swimming pools etc solely for your car keys. Easy theft so be aware.

I'd be wary of getting car-jacked also when parked up on the pavement or waiting at red lights. And I wouldn't leave the keys in the ignition when putting petrol in.

On the mk5 there is an option for auto locking where as soon as you go above 10 mph the doors lock.  Just like a taxi.  Might be usefull for those that live or have to drive through less salubrious areas I suppose.  I would imagine its still there on the mk6 (in the highline or via VCDS / stealer).
