wot a day....
« on: 27 June 2009, 20:12 »
had me rear vrs bushes fitted today and had me coilovers fitted as well .

wot can i say apart from wot a job. glad i was only passin me mate tools here and there and hold this and that lol

started at 10am today all done at half 5pm.

vrs rear bushes are sweet as and a great fit. (just took a fair bit of help to get the old ones out)

my hotunning coilovers well the rears went in very easy and are adjusted about 8 turns from bottom about 50-55mm we think

as for the front well not to impressed to be honnest . wot a nightmare.... for one the actully strut was to wide to fit in the hole so we has to grind the welds a lil at the bottom and grind away a lil all round the bottom of strut. (about 1 1/2 mm)
when we managed to get them in and all fitted ready for the wheels back on we4 found that the wheel was goin to rub on the coilover adjusters. so we wound them up about 4" to get them to clear the tyre, dropped the car down and .....

there we got very lucky it sat very well and very even. (about 40mm drop)
not pleased with the fitment of the front ones to be honnest .

btu all in all the car now looks sweeeet and is no more a 4x4 lol

i will apdate with pics etc 2morrow once i have given her a good clean.......

If you run low on coilovers the tyre will rub on the adjusting ring, I fitted 5mm spacers to overcome the problem.
I've needed to do my rear beam bushes for about 4 months, but keep putting it off

Thats what I'd do. I wouldn't attempt to do them with the axle on the car

did mine with axle off, hacksaw thought the outer part of one and the bush (mine were totally gone so the rubber pushed out) don't hacksaw all the way though, then with a chisel or screw driver if you don't have one knock it in under the bit yuo cut and it should collapse in then you can push out.
I don't think they are to harsh and i am running standard suspension at the moment.
MK4 GTI T AGU, REVO Remap, BMC carbon box, Miltek cat back, Forge diverter valve, THS FR3 engine/Gbox mounts, Some random alloys, lowered on coilovers.

Just as easy to take the axle off than to f**k about lying on your back
