dude, hear me out.

Mk2 =
pro's
fun, involving drive, stands out from the rest.

cons
noisy, rattly, cold, probably damp, older

mk3=
pro's
Comfortable, quiet, less rattly, newer, more common to find spares for, reasonably good in terms of handling

cons
heavier, less involving drive, doesn't handle as well, not as unique.

Who cares about safety, the MK2 can take the pain!

As stated, depends what you want the car for?

I have a mk2 16v and use it to drive to work everyday after getting bored with my mk3 16v...

Very different but still similar if you follow.

Good cars both in their own way.

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

You were involved in my recent thread Mate so I know the dilemas. I would look at why you would want to buy it.
If it is just to clean up and make a bit on it then fair enough. If you want it as a daily driver then it'll do the job.
If it's an 8v like mine and you enjoy traffic light grand prix's etc. then it won't be for you.

As Khare has said, they are comfy. And as an ex-biker with many a battle scar, that does come in handy

I have chosen to keep the Mk3 for now.

If it's the right money and you can afford it, what do you have to lose....
'95 Mystic blue Mk3 2.0l 8v - gone
'93 2.0l 16v Corrado - gone (and missed)
'02 A4 Quattro sport - gone
'91 Black 2.1 16v Corrado -gone
'91 Tornado red Mk2

This may sound unbelievable but i stepped out of an evo and into a mk3 8v. I wont say i dont regret it because.......well its obvious really but i love my mk3, its totally mint condition wise and has cost me £47 in repairs in 14months. It has 132000 miles on the clock and drives like 60000.

Round town its nippy, not fast just nippy but is more than enough for what i need. As a second car they are sweet. If its a driving experience you want i would avoid vw altogether.

My mk3 16v is my first vw and I have to say it's left a big impression. I will be buying many more vw's in the future. I have a 5dr and I'm impressed with the handling to be honest.

if its just gonna be an extra car then why not just do it? as long as the mk3 is all in good working order you'll be able to save the wear and tear and the miles on your mk2 matey.
