only a thought at the minute

right then i might be able to get my hands on a mk3 gti. yes i know its a mk3 and i have a mk2 but are they really that bad ? the one in question has just been sat on this guys driveway for a while so im thinking i might make him an offer so what i need to know is whats the pros and cons

pro`s in a crash you dont get killed.

con`s  they dont go 0-60 in 1 second like a mark 2..

So dont crash. either way, I think hes a biker and he already has the Mk2. Dont go for a mk3 unless its a 16v or you will regret it.

Mk2 =
pro's
fun, involving drive, stands out from the rest.

cons
noisy, rattly, cold, probably damp, older

mk3=
pro's
Comfortable, quiet, less rattly, newer, more common to find spares for, reasonably good in terms of handling

cons
heavier, less involving drive, doesn't handle as well, not as unique.

i'm on my second mk3 8v and don't regret it one bit! as its also got 55k on the clock and in almost perfect condition! plus i enjoy the cheaper insurance and petrol costs and not to mention parts. . . if you want to rag the hell out of your car and race anything that moves then cool get a Mk3 16v.  :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

damp cos its got a leak, and cold cos insulation aint very good lol. My heaters used to work wonders though.
