Right then guys and girls. Im in a real dilema here. I desperately need to locate an ABS pump for my mk3 16v! Trouble is, they dont seem to exist anywhere!

Part number:
1H2 614 217 E

The letter 'E' is the real mystery. I have phoned just about everywhere i possibly can to locate one and still no joy. Ive had people saying that its off a corrado. Some people saying a very late VR6.

If someone can locate me an ABS pump and ECU Module i will sort them a decent drink out of it! This is driving me nuts. Not even VW have a clue what it is. I must have some rare prototype.

Can I use an ABS pump with Part number 1H2 614 217 C ? How important is the last letter? There must be someone out there that can help.

Can these things be serviced / repaired?

Like i say there will be a reward for anyone that can track a working one down for me, thanks!

up to 1hzvw123001 chassis ABS pump listed is 1H2698217
From 1HZVW123001 chassis ABS pump listed is 1J0698217A which is a mark 4 part number-there is a couple of variations
to this so would suggest contacting a dealer with your chassis and checking the correct part number listed as whats marked on
the part and the correct part number listed via  ETKA may not be the same.Once you know the correct part number listed for your car the search should be narrowed down.
Hope this is of some use

Right, an update on this. I went out to the car earlier and turned the ignition on. To my total disbelief the ABS light went out shortly followed by the air bag light!!

I started her up and the ABS light came on for 2 seconds then went out again. Is this the normal light sequence for a car with working ABS? I went out for a spin in the rain and did a couple of very hard stops and couldnt get the wheels to lock up, however i am not feeling any feedback or anything through the brake pedal so i cant tell if this is just a combination of good tyres and brakes etc or the ABS that is stopping me from skidding?

Very strange, why would it suddenly come to life? Has the car only just realised all the sensors etc are working?

Thanks for all your comments and help so far on this. Any further feedback is greatly appreciated.

both should come on for a couple of seconds and then go out.

So this doesnt sound right? Just putting the ignition on illuminates both the airbag and ABS light with the ABS light going out first shortly followed by the air bag light.

When i start the engine the ABS light illuminates again and goes out after about 2 seconds.
