not bloody happy (new master cylinder)
« on: 25 June 2009, 11:46 »
Well ordered one yesterday, it said it fits mk3 golf, 1984cc, 16v, 1992/1998. I have gti 16v so I thought that was the right part. Wrong! it came today went to fit it and the brake line bolts are 12mm, but the master cylinder holes are 10mm. Rang them up and they said they will ring me back because something about a part number. Went on the site and it turns out the part I ordered is a 22.2mm bore. Well what 2.0 gti 16v has a 22.2mm bore, they are 23 or 24mm right?
I'm not bloody happy about this

i have a similar problem, i got a gti master cylinder, was off a 16v or vr6 cause it had the hydro clutch pipe on the reservior. so i swapped the reservior on my 1.4 to the new master cylinder as i will be running a cable clutch. anyway, when i went to fit it, the brake line connectors that are on the car are too small for the master cylinder.

now my 1.4 doesnt have abs, i am right in saying the size of the bore (22.2 or 23.8) is due to having abs and not abs rather than engine size?

cause i need to get a gti master cylinder that will fit my lines or lines that will fit my new master cylinder......

cheers :)
