Edition 30 specs
« on: 21 June 2009, 17:24 »
Hi,

Been floating around here for a while, just as a guest and reading up on all things GTI

With a bit of luck I may be in the market for an edition 30 or pirelli gti further towards the end of year.

There seem to be a few different spec of ed30, is there a link anywhere to list of options you could have chosen when new?

I have also seen the old/new ones in stock at a certain car supermarket and watched the price steadily rise from 17999 to 19999 where i think they are at now.

As these were much cheaper than an official uk car then I would expect used values to be adjusted by the same amount, How can I identify one of these imports? as I see there are a few used examples starting to appear in independant garages.

Many thanks

Was just about to say that!
Motorpoint is probably the only place with new ED30's. Since they were a limited run, I dont think you can get them new any more.

I've been looking at some used examples and there are a few differences, some have the buttons on the steering wheel and i've seen some that have been advertised as highline.

I'm totally new to vw, never owned one before.

I was just thinking about the imports, obviously there must be those out there that have bought these and traded them but I doubt they will be priced cheaper against a uk spec car on the used market.

If the 07 uk car was 24 new and now up for 16 its lost 8k but If the import at 20.000 new same age has lost its 8000 there should be some around the 12k mark. But there is not so this means they must be mixing in with the uk spec ones and are perhaps overpriced?

So is there any easy way to spot the import amongst the used cars? any different details/spec etc?

Cheers guys

I suppose I could check for the supplying dealer when new

All ED30s are the same base spec and model, there was no "Highline" version or anything like that (the seller is referring to the highline option on that particular car). The only differences between them will be what options were added when ordered new.

Im sure someone on here somewhere has a PDF version of the procure which will have the options list. Off the top of my head you have: xenons, multi function stearing wheel, sunroof, upgraded headunit, winter pack, lux pack, DSG, highline computer, parking sensors. Thats most of the major options, there where loads though.

Imports only come with a 2 year warranty and wont hold their value as well. Also not all of them come with A/C (can someone confirm that last statement)

Put it this way, your not going to be getting a new ED30 from a dealer. Your not going to get a new MK5 GTI from the dealer in fact.
