ha ha, are you serious ? (originator of this thread)

You went and put an order in for a mk6 GTI and you hadn't even checked insurance. Dear me.

What is it with young lads these days ? Why do they want the fastest cars so quickly ? No, silly question. I was exactly the same and would have loved a mk1 or mk2 GTI when I was 19, but why didn't I ? Yup, that's right because I couldn't afford the insurance never mind the car.

Unless you or your family are in a position wherby you are minted (and good luck to you if you or they are) then I'd cancel the order and start my driving career with a more sensible car and build up my own insurance no claims. It's not really hard to work it out is it.

.....and another thing. VW should have taken more responsibility and at least asked you if you could insure the car or at least got an insurance quote. If they didn't then shame on them to be honest.

Come on, tell me some quotes.... I want to laugh at other peoples expense

Sadist ;) My insurance company has quoted me £470 per annum fully comp', which I guess is quite reasonable. However, it is on the strict understanding that my 19 year-old son will not be let anywhere near it :)

Mine was £380-ish I think, that's fully comp with a low excess, protected no claims and all other bells and whistles etc. The exact figures are in another forum on this section, cant remember where exactly

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

Wow, these forums are great: this thread got me thinking, so I rang another insurance company and have just been quoted £320

Make sure the excess aint high on that :)

Phone a few more and ask em to beat the £320, when they start telling you 'thats a good quote take it', or 'we have no chance of beating that' then your at rock bottom.

As said though I don't think you will get a quote due to your age.... Good luck with it though

Right, Das Auto. Iv'e just gone on www.confused.com and done an insurance quote on a brand new MK6 Golf GTI (210bhp) worth £25,000 based in Croydon (South London, which isnt a very good location for insruance) with me being 19 years old with 2 years NCB and I also stuck a dad who is 45 years old. Thats fully comp.

Elephant would insure this for £3,887.30 with a £600 excess.

Sorted?
