Ah, but did the dealer tax it for you? The dealer wanted my insurance because they where taxing the car up. If your buying a car from a dealer you need to be getting THEM to tax it and not you.

^^^^ yes all 4 were taxed by the dealer, i don't think you can buy a brand new car of a dealer without them taxing it

It also has something to do with the finance of the car. If its on VW finance then they like to see insurance, but if your paying cash then its your choice...

thats why you get 7 days free so vw can get it faxed through to dealer. In November i brought a unregistered R32 over the phone at 3pm and picked it up 5pm the next day and drove it home with a copy of 7 days free insurance

Sadist ;) My insurance company has quoted me £470 per annum fully comp', which I guess is quite reasonable. However, it is on the strict understanding that my 19 year-old son will not be let anywhere near it :)

Who's your insurance company then, the best I've been quoted is £580 fully comp.

You will only get the free insurance if you are 25 or older.

When i bought my GTI last year i phone up Norwich Union who i think the free insurance was with, sat there for about 10 minutes taking all of my details then got to my age (24 at the time) and got told i wasn't old enough for them to give me a annual quote or the free weeks insurance  :rolleyes:
